Royal Roads University (RRU) is seeking applications for a full-time core faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in the Conflict Analysis and Management (CAM) program, School of Peace and Conflict Management, Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences. Royal Roads University is located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. With a reputation for innovation, RRU is a leader in the delivery of blended learning programs, which combine intensive residency experiences with online course work. The CAM program was established in 1998, and the program admits approximately 45 new students each year.

The Conflict Analysis and Management program is a two-year interdisciplinary graduate program that provides students with the theoretical knowledge necessary to identify, analyze, and design interventions to support the resolution of inter-group and intra-group conflict in a variety of contexts. We offer both MA and graduate diploma options. Our program does not focus on inter-personal conflict, rather it stresses a systems-based, intercultural approach to understanding and managing situations in which conflict may arise or be present. Typical CAM students are working professionals who have roles as managers, negotiators, facilitators, or consultants; the diversity of student backgrounds contributes to the richness of our learning environment. Students choose from concentrations; the two we have offered in recent years are 1) ethno-political conflict, and 2) organizational conflict.

The successful applicant is a scholar-practitioner, whose expertise is in the area of inter-group and intra-group conflict. A Ph.D. in conflict analysis and management or a related field in the social and applied sciences is required. The work of all core faculty members at RRU includes teaching, research and service. Accordingly, the successful applicant has (a) demonstrated experience in teaching at the graduate level, (b) a research agenda, and (c) academic administrative experience. The ideal candidate has a teaching philosophy that is aligned with the values and practices of our university, and experience (a) with an inter-disciplinary and outcomes-based curriculum, (b) with course and curriculum development, and (c) teaching mature adult students in both face-to-face and online environments. The academic administrative responsibilities for the CAM program are shared between two core faculty members; these responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: (a) supervision and support of associate faculty, who are on term contracts, (b) curriculum oversight and development, and (c) student support. Our program is poised for growth in both the domestic and international markets, and we are seeking a candidate who has the passion to build on the CAM program’s past success, and help shape future program growth.

In addition to a collegial learning community, RRU offers a comprehensive compensation package to core faculty, with a salary based on rank, qualifications and experience.

The competition will begin on March 22, 2012 and the review of materials received will commence on April 20, 2012 however, the competition will remain open until a successful candidate is found.

To apply please forward your cover letter describing how your experience matches our requirements, curriculum vitae (preferably in electronic format), and a one page statement of your teaching philosophy to:
