Douglas loves his work at the helpdesk. He truly enjoys helping people and though he's been head hunted to go to other companies, he chooses to stay right here with us. Why? Because he appreciates the wonderful environment we work in, the wonderful people that surround us and he truly believes in the RRU style of customer service!

Why does Douglas love working at Royal Roads?

I love doing technical support at Royal Roads because it feels like we are making a difference in people’s lives.  I cannot tell you how many calls we receive that start with a simple technical question but eventually evolves into a variety of questions from students that are feeling overwhelmed with the journey they are about to begin.  Since many of our students are returning to school after many years, the web sites, the usernames and passwords, the technology, can be stressful.  I love reminding the students that our role is to help them so that they can focus on the learning, and not worry about the tools.  Also, I love it when people are surprised how quickly they get to talk to a real person or how quickly we respond to their emails.  Our goal is get the caller on with their work as soon as possible.  I love working in an environment where everyone I work with truly believes that the customer, whether student, staff or faculty, comes first.  - Douglas Brown
