Department: Admissions & Enrolment ServicesReference number: 17-073-A0224 Closing date: Friday, July 21, 2017 - 17:00Employment status: OngoingFull or part time: Full-timeCompetition status: Screening Job description: The Admissions Advisor is responsible for a broad range of functions in support of admissions and enrolment management including: key advising on admissions policies, regulations and processes (to prospective students, faculty and staff), as well as managing, tracking and evaluating an assigned portfolio of applications and registrations through numerous intake cycles. The Admissions Advisor plays a lead role in evaluating and advising applicants, adjudicating standard and flexible admission undergraduate applications, and screening graduate applications. The Admissions Advisor also acts as the first point of contact for deans, school directors, program faculty and staff during the application, admission and enrolment process. Qualifications: To be well suited to the role you will possess the following qualifications and competencies:A relevant undergraduate degree and three to five years of related experience in a post-secondary environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.An aptitude for detailed work and accuracy, with the ability to perform mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.Strong research, reporting and project management skills, and an aptitude for detailed work.Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, problem solve and exercise good judgment.Skilled at building and maintaining positive, cooperative, and service-oriented relationships, where diversity of situations and people are routinely encountered. Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and ability to present information effectively.Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to easily adapt to new software and systems.Ability to work independently or in a high-performance team with minimal supervision.Be a disciplined self-starter, taking initiative where appropriate.An ideal candidate would also possess:Knowledge of the University, its programs, and the RRU learning experience.Experience with student information system software.Understanding of Canadian and international educational systems at the post-secondary level.Familiarity with various assessment practices, such as PLA(R).
