Job description: 

Royal Roads University is seeking expressions of interest for Associate Faculty positions in the School of Environment and Sustainability, Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences. We are specifically looking for Associate Faculty interested in teaching in the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science Program for the course ENSC 301 Sustainable Development Series (January 2-March 16, 2018). Please note - Associate Faculty are not employees; rather, they hold limited-term contracts to teach individual courses in our programs.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BScES) is an intense one-year, on-campus undergraduate degree in which students complete years 3 and 4 of a bachelor degree in one calendar year.  Students build the skills required to become environmental science professionals while exploring subjects such as ecology, geoscience and ecotoxicology, and developing a comprehensive foundation in the field of environmental science.

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate for teaching at RRU is someone who has experience as a scholar and a practitioner.

Requisite qualifications include:

  • A PhD in a related field (preferred)
  • Professional experience in a related field, with expertise that aligns with the focus of the course(s) to which you are applying
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence at the undergraduate level
  • Experience working within an interdisciplinary outcomes-based curriculum
  • Experience teaching in web-based distance education programs
  • A teaching philosophy that is compatible with Royal Roads University's Learning and Teaching Model, available at: http://www.royalroads.ca/about/learning-and-teaching-model
