Associate faculty hold limited-term contracts to teach individual courses in our programs. 

The School of Business is seeking applications for Associate Faculty to teach in the field of Globalisation and International Business in the Bachelor of Business Administration (on-campus), Bachelor of Commerce (on-campus and online) and Masters of Global Management (on campus and online) programs.   All teaching opportunities are for the 2017/18 school year.

The School of Business is dedicated to educating both aspiring and existing professionals in the business field.  Our emphasis is on relevant, applied skills aimed at developing business professionals who are strong communicators, critical thinkers, problem solvers, ethical leaders, globally-aware citizens and effective team members.

Associate faculty members play a key role in the delivery of the school’s programs. Our Associate Faculty members bring a scholar-practitioner perspective to their teaching, combining appropriate academic theory with real-world experience. All Associate Faculty positions are limited-term, contract positions. Royal Roads University provides instructional and Moodle skills training through our Centre for Teaching and Educational Technology.

Course Descriptions:

STNL312: Globalization in the Business World

Examines both the opportunities and threats generated through globalization. Explores the business sector’s response to issues such as global crises, environmental concerns, global competition, market trends and product development. Investigates business trends and issues, with particular attention to cultural, socio-economic, geopolitical and environmental contexts within a global context. Focuses on the developed and developing world as business management and operational issues are looked at in both.

ENMN331: Doing Business in a Global Economy

Discusses the global economy and essential elements of international business development. Examines the primary mechanisms of the international economy through the exploration of topics such as export/import, licensing, franchising, contract manufacturing and outsourcing, joint venturing and foreign direct investment.

MGMT561: Political Geography and International Economics

Examines the theories, frameworks and tools required to analyze, interpret, predict and respond to the global business environment. Using contemporary examples arising from globalization, students will apply various analytical approaches to interpreting international political and economic relations, as these relate to global management.

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate for teaching at RRU is someone who has experience as a scholar and a practitioner. For our programs, requisite qualifications include:

  • a graduate degree (PhD preferred) in a field related to one or more of the following:  globalization, international business, international and/or political economics
  • professional experience working in the field related to course content
  • expertise that aligns with the focus of the program and courses
  • demonstrated teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • experience working within an outcomes-based curriculum
  • experience teaching in intercultural classes
  • a teaching philosophy that is compatible with RRU’S Learning and Teaching Model, available at: http://www.royalroads.ca/about/learning-and-teaching-model
  • experience teaching in web-based distance education programs and face-to-face environments
