 Royal Roads University is seeking applications for Associate Faculty to teach in the School of Education and Technology at Royal Roads University, Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences. We are specifically looking for Mandarin-speaking Associate Faculty in the bilingual version of the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Management program. Associate Faculty are not employees; rather, they hold limited-term contracts to teach individual courses in our programs. 

Royal Roads University is located in Victoria, BC. Its mandate is to offer professional degree programs with a focus on the application to the workplace. The bilingual Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Management (MAELM) is a two-year program that combines four intensive two-week residencies in Dalian, China with online learning courses. The blended-delivery model allows learners to complete their degree while continuing to work. All courses are taught in both English and Mandarin.

 

The program helps aspiring and existing school administrators develop the knowledge and skills that will enable them to function as effective leaders in today’s and tomorrow’s challenging educational environments. We are specifically seeking Associate Faculty to teach the following courses in the MAELM bilingual program:

  • EDLM 550: Communication for Learning

  • EDLM 560: Leading in a Technology-Mediated Environment

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate for teaching in the bilingual MAELM program is someone who has experience as a scholar and a practitioner. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Fluency in both English and Mandarin;
  • Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership or a related field [ABD considered];
  • Professional/applied experience in the K-12 education sector;
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence at the graduate level in the field of educational leadership (in face-to-face and online environments);
  • Experience in designing and delivering online instruction;
  • Experience in the integration and use of adult learning principles in curriculum design, delivery and assessment, particularly at the graduate level;
  • Ability to work effectively in team-based course delivery; and
  • A teaching philosophy that is compatible with RRU’S Learning and Teaching Model, available at: http://www.royalroads.ca/about/learning-and-teaching-model
