Job description: 

Reporting to the Manager, Media Support Services, and working in a team within the Centre for Teaching and Educational Technologies (CTET), the Audio Visual Technician provides ongoing expert technical and operational guidance, training and support to staff, faculty and students in the use of RRU audio visual systems in classrooms, theatres and meeting spaces.  In addition, the Audio Visual Technician provides technical support, consultation and hands-on training in the use of audio visual equipment and software to external clients using RRU facilities.  The Audio Visual Technician also provides technical support of audio visual equipment for high profile RRU events.

Qualifications: 
  • Diploma in cross-disciplinary media, technologies and processes.
  • Minimum two years of experience preferably in an institutional setting and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the use of a wide variety of professional audio and video software, processes and equipment.
  • Ability to provide effective instruction and training in the use of equipment to faculty, staff and students.
  • Strong customer service skills; Comfortable and capable in providing assistance and support via phone, e-mail or in person, progressing to front-line contact for returning external clients.
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and pressure while maintaining excellent working relationships with all clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to digitize, convert and output video files in various formats for duplication and delivery on CD, DVD and web (ie: HD, video streaming, compressing and embedding video, media players).
  • Must be fully competent in the use of Microsoft Office and professional production and presentation software.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Competency on both PC and Mac platforms is required.

This is a casual on-call position with varying day, evening and weekend shifts and we cannot guarantee a set number of hours per week.  The rate of pay is $21.75 per hour and the university is pleased to offer a percentage of pay in lieu of vacation.
