Department: Global, Marketing and Business DevelopmentReference number: 16-042-M0214Closing date: Monday, July 4, 2016 - 17:00Employment status: OngoingFull or part time: Full-timeCompetition status: Completed Job description: Reporting to the Vice-President, Global, Marketing and Business Development, the Director, Business Development will be responsible for leading the business development for Royal Roads University initiatives through the identification and pursuit of: new markets for existing academic programs (credit and non credit); new academic program opportunities (credit and non credit) within existing and new market segments and building upon existing corporate/public sector alliances and crafting new partnerships/relationships that result in enhanced growth performance.In this exciting new role, you will work closely with the executive team and related departments within the university to provide linkages and guidance to optimize existing program enrolments and seek out new business opportunities with a tactical focus of developing defined action plans and implementing them.Through your work you will support the University’s commitment to meet the needs of both domestic and international students by ensuring the new business opportunities are aligned with the University’s strategic direction. Qualifications: To be well suited to the role you will possess the following qualifications and competencies:Master’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experienceA minimum of ten years’ experience spanning both public and private sectors with a proven track record of new business developmentDemonstrated leadership and supervisory experienceExtensive experience in working with government agencies or departments to interact and form partnerships with multiple stakeholdersKnowledge and understanding of post-secondary business education requirements, principles and proceduresStrong understanding of metrics reporting and entrepreneurial approach to maximizing opportunities for growthProven experience with the blended learning environment, including online and face to face learningResults orientated with a demonstrated ability working with pathway program, student recruitment, agents and familiarization toursDevelopment and marketing of programs, products or initiativesEffective time management and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneouslySelf-motivated with a high level of initiativeEvidence of success working independently and as part of teamCulturally sensitive, understanding of multiple cultures and marketsExcellent written and oral English communication skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and operate in a highly ethical mannerSome travel will be required Application submission information: This is a regular full-time position working 37.5 hours per week.
