This is a newly created regular full-time position. Royal Roads University, located just minutes from downtown Victoria, British Columbia and situated amongst old growth forest and awe inspiring ocean and mountain views, is the only public university in Canada created solely to address the knowledge needs of the global economy and the BC labour market through applied and professional programs - our flexible, innovative learning model is integral to our success. As we continue to move forward in our 20th year of business we are seeking a proven and experienced professional who will oversee the university’s international objectives. Under direction of the Vice-President, Global, Marketing and Business Development, this position will lead the development of the international strategic plan and the delivery of appropriate strategies and tactics. In this role, you will collaborate in the development of a global mindset amongst students, staff and faculty; you will work in partnership overseeing Study Group’s marketing and recruitment activities done on behalf of the university; and, you will be the university’s Designated Institutional Representative (DIR) for Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Critical to this role will be your strong international expertise, and a proven track record in building and maintaining strategic alliances internally and externally. In addition to a collegial learning community, Royal Roads University offers a comprehensive compensation package, with a starting salary based on qualifications and experience and participation in the College Pension Plan. To be well suited to the role you will possess the following qualifications and competencies: • Master’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 8-10 years leadership experience in international education in a post-secondary setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Strong leader with progressively more senior positions and a proven track record in building a comprehensive internationalization plan • Proven experience with strategic planning and business plan development • Demonstrated ability to execute on plan in a complex environment • Strong analytical skills and entrepreneurial approach to maximizing opportunities for growth • Excellent understanding of international recruitment and marketing • Knowledge of international business development, student recruitment, and student support services, including English proficiency and acculturation programs • Commitment to student service and service to partners and associates abroad • Evidence of success working independently and as part of team and ability to direct and lead a cross-cultural team • Culturally sensitive, understanding of multiple cultures and markets • Excellent written and oral English communication skills and the ability to speak a second language preferred
