As the Director of IT Operations and Service Management, you will bring strategic leadership and technical skills to the planning, implementation and management of the university’s IT systems, services and hosting projects. You will lead the migration of our current on-site data centre to a cloud hosted hybrid model. You will lead the adoption of ITSM standards and you will be responsible for the ongoing operations and security of university wide IT functions within IT-Services at RRU.Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), you will play a pivotal role in the transformation of the university’s technical landscape and service delivery model. You will contribute to the strategic planning process through your knowledge, insight, and research on best practice in IT operations and service and subsequently oversee the execution of key infrastructure and service related initiatives for RRU.You will have the opportunity to build and maintain a network of contacts with your peers at higher-education institutions, as well as with organizations with similar information technology operations, leveraging and sharing experience and best practice in the higher education sector across Canada. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience10+ years of experience in managing technology operations and teams, with at least 5 years involving delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence; experience in developing IT staff & IT organizationsProven builder and leader of high performing IT infrastructure operations and service management teams. Experienced in transforming teams through process improvement, and people skills to achieve high performance. Demonstrated track record of leading a team where customer experience was a priorityProven experience in migrating data centres to shared or cloud hosted facilities maintaining or improving quality of service and availability.Extensive experience in managing infrastructure and operations in a hosted environment for a similar sized organization to a high availability and security standardAdvanced communication and interpersonal skills to engage with peers, vendors, stakeholders and senior management to achieve excellent partnership and results.Experienced in implementing and operating to current service models (ITIL) and current technology protocols and standards across all lines of business and technology platformsProven ability to deliver Infrastructure and operations projects using project best practice approaches.Demonstrated skills in areas of risk and security management, IT Service Management (ITSM), IT continuous improvement, IT operations management and customer service Application submission information: This is a regular full-time position working 37.5 hours per week on campus.
