Through the strategic direction set by the Vice-President, you will execute the key initiatives for the department providing relevant and responsive short courses/programs that complement existing and emerging programs at Royal Roads University (RRU).Working collaboratively with the Vice-President, GMBD you will establish and develop strong collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders, clients and key-decision makers in domestic and international target sectors to ensure growth and market development. Additional responsibilities will include overseeing the non-credit program curricula and design with a focus on sound pedagogical practice,innovative programming, and a commitment to the University’s student-centered philosophy of education as well as ensuring for credit courses comply with the University’s Quality Assurance Policy and are delivered in alignment with the Learning and Teaching Model for RRU. You will work closely with the Dean, Faculty of Management who retains final approval on all academic matters pertaining to for credit courses.Building long-term alliances and relationships with internal and external stakeholders, program delivery partners, business and organizations is an integral responsibility of this important role. Successful planning and managing of market responsive programs that support identified learning needs in the form of face to face and on-line education through short courses/programs is another key aspect of the position. Qualifications: To be well suited to the role you will possess the following qualifications and competencies:Master’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.A minimum of ten years’ experience in increasingly senior roles within the Post-Secondary Continuing Education sectorDemonstrated leadership abilitiesExpertise and demonstrated track record in business development and successful marketing effortsProven negotiation expertise and experience with contract training agreementsInternational contract training experience and/or cultural sensitivity is requiredA second language is a definite assetProven experience with project management and supervising others by establishing and monitoring performance frameworks, in addition to managing contractors and suppliers to achieve departmental and University wide goals and objectivesProven expertise in educational needs assessment, program and curricula development and program evaluationExcellent communicator who can represent RRU’s continuing education interests at all levels by demonstrating sound business acumenCritical thinker with the ability to make difficult decisions and be accountable for the outcomes Expertise and experience building strong working relationships with individuals, business and community organizations, educational institutions, and government agenciesKnowledge and understanding of education within a post-secondary organizational cultureCapable of working under pressure meeting contract deadlines; at ease with negotiations and maintains an uncompromising commitment to qualitySome travel will be requiredThis is a regular full-time position working 37.5 hours per week.
