Royal Roads University and Study Group have partnered in the establishment of the Royal Roads University International Study Centre (ISC).  Established in 2011, the ISC delivers a range of programs to international students focused on a combination of language preparatory and degree level studies. Study Group is recruiting within Royal Roads University (RRU) for an Academic Head to be seconded to the Study Group North America team based within the International Study Centre located on the Royal Roads University campus.

The Director of Recruitment and Marketing is responsible for developing and leading a global sales and marketing strategy for our partnership with our assigned brand which encompasses traditional ISC pathway operations, as well as recruitment into the full range of University Degree programmes at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level.

The role acts as the conduit between the University and the relevant Study Group functions of sales/recruitment and marketing, and is accountable for the overall success of the partnership from a sales and marketing point of view. The role will also lead a team of key recruitment staff located in key hubs for their respective regions globally.

Key Responsibilities include:


  • Responsible for creating, owning and delivering on a global sales and market plan for all aspects of the relationship


  • Accountable for the delivery of our student recruitment targets for International Study Centre (ISC) and Direct Admit
  • Lead and collaborate effectively with direct reports and key stakeholders to achieve and exceed agreed sales targets
  • Lead the wider sales networks for University brand, ensuring that all SG sales channels are fully engaged with the proposition
  • Coordinate all internal updates and training for the full sales organization and prepare and update appropriate materials and training for our external partners
  • Coordinate and manage key in market recruitment events for Canada
  • Work closely with University staff to ensure that in market activity and support meets the need of the wider sales network
  • Drive forecasting and conversion efforts across the wider networks for the University’s brand proposition


  • Be the brand ambassador for University and successfully implement the agreed marketing strategy.
  • Create and deliver a unified brand and common look for the brand, consistent with the University’s own marketing.
  • Execute the brand vision through engaging marketing campaigns developed in partnership with our in-house agency and marketing delivery teams.
  • Serve as the university product expert and work to build new consumer-oriented university programs.
  • Develop brand messaging and content to be used on internet and other digital mediums
  • Execute campaigns to raise brand awareness of and consideration for the brand in international markets and generate leads and applications.
  • Build an alumni group of current and past students who can help promote Uni’s programs in their home countries and through testimonials and videos.


  • Ensure the strategy achieves new student enrolment targets and increase conversion rates by sales channel and location.
  • Manage costs within allocated budgets.
  • Provide input to the budgetary and reporting requirements.

Geographic Scope

  • Role can be based in either Vancouver or Victoria
  • Requires extensive travel within North America and internationally
  • A University undergraduate Degree, or equivalent, ideally from a Canadian University
  • Experience in a product marketing or sales leadership area with proven international work experience
  • Experience in creating and delivering sales and marketing strategies successfully in a multi-cultural and/or matrix organization
