Department: Centre for Teaching and Educational Technologies (CTET)Reference number: 17-039-T0054Closing date: Tuesday, April 11, 2017 - 17:00Employment status: OngoingFull or part time: Full-timeCompetition status: Completed Job description: Reporting to the Director, CTET the Faculty Development Liaison is responsible for developing a program to promote teaching excellence, through the provision of services for faculty, which fosters the competencies to teach effectively in alignment with the experiential and constructivist nature of the Royal Roads University Learning and Teaching Model.The position is responsible for: (1) an annual teaching excellence plan, informed by consultation with key stakeholders, to identify evolving needs of the university; (2) design, delivery and evaluation of faculty development workshops, which include orientation, facilitation and reflective practice approaches, with a focus on adult learning concepts, integration of Learning and Teaching Model pedagogies, and instructional skills; (3) collaboration with the STUDIO Liaison, whose focus is on provision of technology and teaching skills for faculty; (4) communications strategies, website stewardship, and improvement of information dissemination for a faculty audience; (5) management of workshop enrolment and reporting systems for faculty development offerings; (6) developing and communicating benchmarks and metrics for this portfolio.This role is situated in the field of educational development, and currently includes programming for adult learning principles; instructional skills; intercultural instructional competencies; group facilitation techniques (e.g. Liberating Structures, graphic facilitation); orientation to teaching and design at RRU; the support of RRU signature pedagogies (e.g. team-based learning; authentic and experiential learning through use of portfolios, etc.), and support for an emergent Program Head community-of-practice . Qualifications: A minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. teaching, educational development, educational technology)Deep knowledge of the principles of adult learning and the methods of instructional design for online, blended and face-to-face courses and programsExperience with delivering Instructional Skills Workshops, ideally with FDW certificationSkills in teaching and facilitating learning, using various face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous methods and technologies (e.g. web conferencing, Web 2.0 tools). Experience with Moodle LMS is an asset5 or more years of experience in relevant fields (i.e. teaching, educational development)Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to convey complex ideas in concise languageExperience with web content management practices as it pertains to communications to reach a faculty audienceTeam leadership skillsCritical thinking skills, innovation and change management skills Application submission information: This is a regular full-time position working 37.5 hours per week on campus.
