Your primary responsibilities will be to educate, engage, and create memorable visitor experiences. You must possess exceptional presentation and communication skills with an ability to adapt to the needs and interests of the audiences.In this role you must be able to commit the program to memory and deliver it in a natural relaxed manner connecting on a personal level with visitors, while engaging and stimulating people in the experience. As required, you may have the opportunity to provide support to the retail store operation and process payments for estate tour and garden admissions. Qualifications: To be well suited to the role you will possess the following qualifications and competencies:Experienced in program delivery; able to learn historical information and interpret it to large numbers of people from a wide range of ages and backgrounds including youth, seniors and international visitors;Professionally trained or certified in interpretation, education or communications and/or a minimum of one year experience in program delivery, interpretation, or public education;Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; an articulate speaker with an ability to creatively embody the story;Competent in operating a PC computer with Microsoft programs (MS Word, Excel); and a point of sales (P.O.S.) system;Responsible for managing, balancing and accounting for a cash float each shift;Capable of working in a fast pace and dynamic environment while maintaining an uncompromised commitment to quality customer service;Reliable and able to work under limited supervision;Ability to form solid working relationships with a wide range of staff, volunteers, members of the community, and beyond;Excellent personal attributes that include, but are not limited to, energetic, team player, and able to embrace change;Ability to react quickly to emerging situations, respond to customer’s concerns, skillfully resolve problems, handle complaints, and when appropriate seek the support of a higher level of management;Experience within the tourism sector, academic institutions, or museums will be considered an asset. Application submission information: These temporary part-time positions will work on campus an average of 20 hours per week for coverage of our peak season, 7 day per week operations for an approximate six month term with the possibility of extension. We cannot guarantee a set number of hours per week; however, please note shifts will span over a three to four day time frame.
