Job description: 

Reporting to the Manager, Learning Design Services, you will manage course design and development projects as assigned and ensure quality for both online and face-to-face course projects.  You may at times lead the project function by working in a team environment with faculty and staff to design, develop and deliver all components of courses and will act as the CTET point of contact for your assigned courses and for issues related to faculty development, curriculum and educational technology.

You will provide training to instructors on effective technical and pedagogical use of the online learning environment and liaise with and advise academic and business units with respect to technology-enabled learning.


To be well suited to the role you will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Graduate degree in educational psychology, educational technology, distance education or a related field
  • Minimum three years’ experience in designing and delivering online courses preferably in a post-secondary environment
  • Experience working on teams with technical professionals and faculty
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to research and/or create innovative solutions
  • Strong instructional and presentation skills (online and face-to-face)
  • Ability to work to deadlines, juggling multiple priorities and tasks
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, including writing and editing
  • Ability to work as a positive, contributing member of a team in a service-oriented approach
  • Strong computer skills (web applications, other educational technologies, MS Office suite)
  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS) (e.g.:  Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)

The following qualifications will be considered an asset:

  • Experience working with curriculum and program development in post-secondary academic programming
  • Experience working with Moodle LMS
  • Advanced skills in designing and facilitating live synchronous sessions (web conferencing, e.g., Blackboard Collaborate, Bluejeans, Adobe Connect, etc.)

This is a casual on-call position for approximately 8 months, working varying shifts and we cannot guarantee a set number of hours per week.  The possibility of extension will be dependent on operational need. The position has been evaluated at Grade 4 with a recruitment range that starts at $27.57 per hour.  The university is pleased to offer a percentage of salary in lieu of vacation.
