Reporting to the Associate University Librarian, this position primarily provides welcoming and efficient support for the Library’s main service point, including circulating library materials, assisting in stacks maintenance (shelving, shifting), processing textbook sales, and responding to routine informational inquiries. The office assistant is also required to provide support to units within the Library portfolio by performing routine, project-related tasks under supervision.


To be well suited to the role you will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • A minimum of 1 year experience providing exceptional customer service
  • Library experience in related functional areas preferred
  • Library technician diploma or equivalent would be an asset
  • Strong computer skills (integrated library systems and MS Office suite)
  • Ability to operate a point of sales system
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a changing and innovative institutional environment

This is a casual on-call position with varying day, evening and weekend shifts and we cannot guarantee a set number of hours per week.  The rate of pay is $17.68 per hour plus an additional 4% vacation pay.
