Royal Roads University (RRU) is seeking applications for a limited-term full time faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level in the School of Environment and Sustainability, Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences.  Royal Roads University is located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.  With a reputation for innovation, RRU is a leader in the delivery of blended learning programs, which combine intensive residency experiences with online course work.

This term position will include teaching in any of the programs in the school, as well as serving as the acting program head and thesis coordinator for the MA in Environmental Education and Communication Program for a 6 month period,

You will be qualified to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level in topics relevant to the school’s six programs, and will have experience with a range of different academic administration functions and a demonstrated track record of successful collaboration with internal and external partners in the development and delivery of academic programs. You will also have professional experience of environmental education and/or communication. Familiarity with RRU’s MA in Environmental Education and Communication program would be an asset.

Qualifications: 
  • A doctorate in a related field
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence at the graduate level
  • Academic administrative experience
  • Experience delivering an inter-disciplinary and outcomes-based curriculum
  • Experience in designing and delivering online instruction
  • Ability to work effectively in team-based course delivery
  • Experience in facilitating and evaluating practice-based learning outcomes
  • Ability to work within a transdisciplinary curriculum
  • Experience in supervision of graduate students
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially as a team member with a variety of teams and stakeholder groups

In addition to a collegial learning community, RRU offers a comprehensive compensation package to core faculty, with a salary based on rank, qualifications and experience. This is a 6 month, limited term appointment from December 2016 until June 2017.

The competition will begin on August 29, 2016 and the review of materials received will commence on September 26, 2016; however, the competition will remain open until a successful candidate is found.
