You will provide leadership and direction to all aspects of this trade. You will be expected to have strong input into RRU’s direction for meeting the government guidelines for energy efficiency. This is a technical position that requires computer competencies to problem solve and trouble shoot using various programs and computer based systems such as fire alarm, intrusion alarm, lighting controls and others. As this is a service based delivery department it will require someone with a positive solution based attitude to ensure campus support is provided to the highest standard. At time, you will participate in project work, maintenance, and competing priorities that may require meeting tight timelines and working under pressure. Quality and safety are paramount and in order to be sucessful the right individual would not only find these to be second nature but also of driving interest to achieve. This is a cooperative solution based team environment that may require you to work outside of normal operating hours and at times assist with other areas. Qualifications: Journeymen Electrician licensed with the government of BC.Grade 12 plus ten (10) years recent experience performing duties related to the position, including one (1) year in a similar role utilizing shop and hand tools, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety policy and proceduresPossession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license in the province of B.C.Knowledge of basic safety, equipment maintenance and presenting technical informationAbility to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and by emailAbility to operate equipment/tools related to duties and work performedComputer based knowledge and aptitude to work with the software and programs of various systemsPhysical ability to carry out the duties of the positionAbility to work independently and in a team environmentEnsures a professional approach to working relationships and conflict resolutionGeneral knowledge of procedures involved in work performedAbility to think analytically and problem solve in an efficient mannerWilling to participate in and create a culture of safetyIn depth knowledge of the BC Electrical code Application submission information: This position is regular full-time working 37.5 hours per week.
