The Media Technician researches appropriate technologies, provides instruction to faculty and staff on the use of AV equipment for video conferencing. Qualifications: Degree or diploma in cross-disciplinary media, technologies and processes.Minimum two years of experience preferably in an institutional setting and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Minimum of two years commercial video editing experience.Excellent working knowledge of the use of a wide variety of professional audio and video software, processes and equipment, in both field and studio production.Ability to design, create and produce professional, visually exciting digital deliverables for photography, videography and web technology.Demonstrated ability to digitize, edit, convert and output video files in various formats for delivery on CD, DVD and web (ie: HD, video streaming, compressing and embedding video, media players).Strong customer service skills; comfortable and capable in providing assistance and support via phone, e-mail or in person, progressing to front-line contact for returning external clients.Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and pressure while maintaining excellent working relationships with all clients.Must be fully competent in the use of Adobe products, particularly Adobe Premiere, HTML, XML/RSS, After Effects and other production software.Competency on both PC and Mac platforms is required.Strong project planning skills and scheduling techniques.Ability to work flexible shifts which may include early mornings, days, evenings, weekends and/or statutory holidays.Some commercial photography experience would be an asset.
