Department: Physical & Environmental ResourcesReference number: 16-058-C0055Closing date: Monday, July 25, 2016 - 17:00Employment status: OngoingFull or part time: Part-timeCompetition status: Completed Job description: Under general direction, you will perform room readiness, post-function details, basic custodial tasks and minor furnishing and equipment repair; receive and deliver University purchases and relocate university assets, and maintain the Asset Inventory System.You will be responsible for the physical event coordination, “set up/tear down” and appearance of the University facilities for use by the internal and external clients; the physical relocation of University assets, and the maintenance of a professional ‘front door’ image presented by the University.You must be capable of periods of high intensity and physical work, and have the ability to work flexible hours and weekends as this position will be working mostly weekends and shifts to meet the needs of our clients. You will be required to lift, carry and place heavy loads as a routine requirement of the position, being ever mindful of the historical facility and potential damage to the structure while providing quality, customer service at all times. This is a regular part-time position within the CUPE Local 3886 Bargaining Unit and we cannot guarantee a set number of hours per week. The hourly rate is $18.79 and as per Article 27.08 and subject to the group benefits plan policy, the University is pleased to offer a comprehensive health benefits and pension package. Qualifications: To be well suited to the role you will possess the following required qualifications and competencies:Required Qualifications:Grade 12 graduation certificatePossession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license in the province of BCAbility to push, pull, maneuver, and lift heavy objectsPhysically able to perform repetitive tasks: physically demanding, bending, crouching, kneeling, weight handlingExperience disassembling and reassembling furniture and equipmentDemonstrated ability to operate equipment and machinery related to the duties and work performed (Hand truck, pallet jack, fridge dolly, pressure washer)Work independently and as part of a team. Able to take instructions and complete tasks.Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and by email.General knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in the work performedAbility to work in inclement weatherUnderstanding for work related safety and able to follow and adhere to safety processesPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)Knowledge of Health and Safety Policy and proceduresKnowledge of basic computer applicationsOne (1) year experience performing related duties in an institutional environment or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
