Job description: 

Professor Ann Dale from Royal Roads University is seeking to fill the position of ‘Research Curator’ for her climate change adaptation and mitigation research project, www.mc-3.ca.  As the Research Curator you will be responsible for ensuring the proactive dissemination of research knowledge and outcomes to a wide variety of audiences, including young people using social media channels, such as blogging, her youtube channel, HEADTalks, tweeting, the research website, Instagram, and other emerging ICTs.  You will also be responsible for organizing peer-to-peer learning exchanges, both virtual and place-based, and e-Dialogues, www.changingtheconversation.ca.  Professor Dale is also interested in exploring the use of crowdsourcing for generating research ideas, data collection and possibly research funding.

As the ideal candidate you will be a dynamic communicator able to write to a wide variety of audiences, skilled in the use of social media channels and proactive website updating through web content management systems (CMS).  You will need to be deeply committed to making a difference through creating and strengthening networks, be an original thinker and capable of working independently.  Excellent writing skills are a critical necessity and knowledge of sustainable community development and/or climate change would be desirable. Also desirable is basic video editing skills.

You should have as a minimum a master’s degree.  The position can also be developed as a post-doctoral scholar, depending upon the skills of the successful candidate.  You will also be able to work virtually as Professor Dale works both at Royal Roads University in Victoria and virtually in Ottawa.

The position can be either part or full-time, but the minimum requirement is three days a week.  This is a temporary (one year), position starting in March 2016, with the possibility of extension for a second year.  The full-time salary is $45,000.00.  Due to its limited term nature, this position is not eligible for enrolment in the University’s Benefits Plan, but you will be provided with 4% vacation pay.
