Job description: 

As the Senior Administrative Manager you will be a key staff member coordinating the administration (both academic and non-academic) at the Faculty level. You will be responsible for all Faculty-wide data management, ensuring that the Dean and Executive have sound information and analysis necessary to make optimal decisions with respect to the activities of the Faculty.

Working closely with the Dean, you will bear responsibility for establishing and maintaining the Faculty’s functional relationships with the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences, the College of Interdisciplinary Studies and Professional and Continuing Studies to ensure efficient collaboration in academic programming and in support of faculty collaboration.

You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators for the Faculty, as well as for the overall coordination and management of administrative and operational functions required for the efficient and effective delivery of academic programs within the Faculty and within partnerships with other university units. You will also ensure that the short-term and long term operations of the Faculty are managed effectively and appropriately.

As the Senior Administrative Manager you will be responsible for clear communication and close working relationships with other university units (e.g., Business Development, Marketing, HR, Finance, etc.), ensuring appropriate staffing levels, training and best practices exist across the Faculty.

Qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree (preferred) plus a minimum of ten years related experience in progressively more responsible positions or, a combination of education and experience, including supervisory and management responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing, monitoring and reporting on complex budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing business cases and conducting financial analysis of business cases. Strong planning and project management skills.  Demonstrated analytical skills and abilities. Demonstrated ability to predict how new events or situations will affect programs, departments, services, students and staff.  Understanding of how behaviors, opportunities, challenges and political forces affect the university.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Skilled at understanding and identifying issues raised by cultural differences and their effect on University resources and business success.  Ability to recommend solutions to these and other complex issues, inquiries and problems.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising, coaching and mentoring staff; including scheduling of assignments, recruitment and selection, and performance management. Skilled in building and leading effective teams to optimize results.
  • Senior-level office management experience, including developing business processes, systems and best practices.
  • Highly developed communication skills (both verbal and written), including an ability to communicate effectively with a variety of client types (students, faculty, support staff, other professionals).  Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong intercultural and international communication skills.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and a high level of tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative when appropriate.

This is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week.  This position has been evaluated at Grade 5 and the recruitment range starts at $69,152.850 per annum.  The University is pleased to offer a comprehensive benefit package.
