Job description: 

This is a replacement recruitment of an existing position.

Reporting to the Manager, IT Services Data & Applications Administration, you will be working primarily, but not exclusively, in a Microsoft environment designing and developing application code to meet specified business requirements; supporting, enhancing, developing and integrating various software systems; providing diagnostic support, administration and maintenance for application systems.

This is a regular full-time position working 37.5 hours per week on campus.  The position has been evaluated at Grade 3 and the recruitment range starts at $42,864 per annum.  The University is pleased to offer a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications: 

To be well suited to the role you will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Must have a degree or diploma in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in building functional specifications and coding to prepared specifications
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience as a Programmer Analyst in a Microsoft .NET environment is preferred
  • Familiar with relational database concepts and direct experience with MySQL or MS SQL Server preferred
  • SQL programming experience is an asset
  • Ability to communicate complex and technical ideas to others in plain language
  • Strong customer service focus (excellent customer service skills; motivated to provide quality service and technical support)
  • Excellent communication skills - capable and comfortable with providing assistance/support via phone, e-mail or in a face to face environment
  • Proven ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a sometimes ambiguous and high pressure environment 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities (ie: testing, troubleshooting)
  • Well organized, project oriented and the ability to multi-task
