As a member of the Web Systems team, you’ll work with like-minded, creative professionals in a collaborative and innovative environment.

The team is actively involved in development and management of web applications including modules for our learning platform (Moodle), Drupal websites and other software packages as they are required (primarily PHP/MySQL).

You must be proficient in developing with current web technologies and be enthusiastic in learning more about emerging technologies as they arise.

You will have some experience with Linux and Apache and a keen interest in the Open Source community. Familiarity with iterative application development including AGILE development methodologies and ITIL practices, as well as a development experience in a team environment, using version control, such as Git, would be an asset.

To be well suited to the role you will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Must have a degree or diploma in Computer Science or a minimum of three (3) years’ related software development work experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working within LAMP hosting environments
  • Demonstrated experience with PHP/MySQL
  • Proven experience in building functional specifications and coding to prepared specifications
  • An in-depth understanding of information systems and familiarity with the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile development practices
  • Linux administration skills would be an asset
  • Experience in the module and plugin development for open-source software (ex, Moodle, Drupal) is an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of current and cutting edge technologies
  • Advanced problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to communicate complex and technical ideas to others in plain language
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and a strong customer service orientation
  • Proven ability to work well independently as well as part of a team

This is a regular full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. The position has been evaluated at Grade 3 and the recruitment range starts at $42,864 per annum.  The university is pleased to offer a comprehensive benefits package.
