Department: Student and Academic ServicesReference number: 15-069-P0136 Closing date: Friday, June 26, 2015 - 17:00Employment status: OngoingFull or part time: Full-timeCompetition status: Completed Job description: This is a new positionReporting to the Manager of the Coaching and Counselling Centre, and working closely with the academic units, the Team Coach supports the team-based learning and teaching approach that is identified in Royal Roads University’s Learning and Teaching Model. The Team Coach facilitates face-to-face and online team training (theoretical and practical) with students across programs and faculties; delivers proactive team and individual coaching support; and communicates and documents processes for dealing with team-related problems if and when they arise.The Team Coach works with the Coaching and Counselling Centre to provide students with the theoretical and practical skills to understand group dynamics and development, give and receive feedback, manage conflict and demonstrate leadership in diverse team environments. The Team Coach also works with the Student Services unit to contribute to departmental student success initiatives and student retention. Qualifications: To be well suited to the role you will possess the following qualifications and competencies:Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, group facilitation and/or coaching training (certification an asset), and three years’ experience working in a post-secondary setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Demonstrated understanding of the theory and practice of group, team and individual coaching, conflict resolution and organizational development.Demonstrated experience with instruction and facilitation in the subject area of groups and teams.Proven skills in areas of problem-solving, conflict management, having difficult conversations and providing feedback with a high level of diplomacy, tact, and judgment.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deal sensitively with situations that require intervention.Demonstrated intercultural competence, cultural diversity training experience.Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues – both faculty and staff.Ability to work effectively in both online and face-to-face environments (familiarity with Moodle and Blackboard Collaborate an asset).Flexibility to work on weekends and evenings, as required for residencies and urgent team issues.
